Far Cry Demo benchmark

Tested with Far Cry v1.1

    -Intel Pentium 4 3200 MHz CPU;
    -DFI LANParty Pro875 (i875P) mainboard;
    -1024 MB DDR400 SDRAM;
    -Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB HDD;
    -Windows XP SP1; DirectX 9.0b;
    -ViewSonic P810 (21") and Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070sb (22") monitors.
    -NVIDIA drivers version 56.72.

Think that this is enough performance for testing :)

Well, here is some new images from comparsion of two high-end class video accelerators. Albatron Gigi GeForce FX 5950 Ultra and ASUS V9980 Ultra (Radeon 9800 XT 256 MB). Far Cry is wondefull new game, and its idela for testing these high performance cards, because its whole in DirectX 9.0 and got very nice graphic design. In this comparsions is winner card from ATI - Radeon 9800 XT, and its because this card has better chip using pixel shaders 2.0 more effectively than model from NVIDIA.

The test ran on demoversion of Far Cry, which was set with -DEVMODE parameter and all settings was on high-quality (Very High). Testbed is very good, high dimensioned for all games in this time:

  • Intel Pentium 4 3200 MHz CPU
  • DFI LANParty Pro875 (i875P) mainboard
  • 1024 MB DDR SDRAM
  • Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB HDD
  • Windows XP SP1; DirectX 9.0b
  • ViewSonic P810 (21") and ViewSonic P817 (21") monitors.
  • NVIDIA driver 56.55.VSync off, S3TC off in applications.

  • Both cards are with price over 400 $ and there are small pictures of them:

    Albatron Gigi GeForce FX 5950 Ultra

    ASUS V9980 Ultra

    And here are finally the benchmarks:

    As I written above, the winner is ASUS V9980 Ultra. Both cards got very good cooler, and are easy overclockeable. ASUS has VIVO, but this is rising the price of product. More informations about this test can be found here.
